Varsity Scrimmage

Last Tuesday, members of the Pine City Boys Basketball Varsity and JV team went to Braham High School to scrimmage PEM (Plainview-Elgin-Millville) High School.  The group representing Pine City lost on a missed potential game winning shot at the end of regulation.  It was good to play against new/different faces for Pine City.

Hinckley-Finlayson Scrimmage

A group of younger Pine City Boys Basketball players traveled up to Hinckley-Finlayson High School last week to play some scrimmages.  After the scrimmages, they stopped at Tobies to celebrate.

The Supreme Coach 2014

Head Boy's Basketball Coach Kyle Allen participated in the 1st ever Supreme Coach Competition in the Twin Cities over the weekend.

Coach Allen was chosen as a top 20 finalist and took part in interviews with former NBA Coach of the Year George Karl and former Head Coach of Penn State Bruce Parkhill, the producers of the pilot show, and took a test revolving around questions related to basketball philosophy, trivia, information, and rules.  After completing all of the tasks of the day, Allen was chosen as a top 8 finalist.

On Friday, the top 8 coaches left evaluated basketball players in two different sessions and then held a snake style draft to create a 7 man team.  The teams then faced off against each other in a tournament on Saturday.

Coach Allen's squad ended up falling by single digits in the semi-finals giving them a top 4 finish.

The taping of the weekend will be put into a scissor real and will be pitched to networks.
