Volunteer (Part Time) Head Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach

It is a great honor to introduce a new coach to the staff (with the longest title ever).

Homegrown talent Billy Christianson, who between 2006-09 established himself as one of Pine City’s more dominate performers, will embark on his first year as the assistant varsity basketball coach with the Dragons in 2015. This will be his first go around as a varsity level coach.

Christianson, a three sport athlete in High School, was more known for his Football abilities. This however didn’t mean he was to be taken lightly on the hardwood. His football mentality carried over to basketball. He was mainly implemented as a bruiser under the hoop and on the defensive side of things. As much as it pains his past coaches to admit it, he also could be a threat on the offensive side of things. Sometimes bricks can land where they are intended to. Billy was part of the high flying team that made it to the section finals in ‘08. After his career in Pine City, he played football for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs for 4 years. Up north he was a part of 4 conference championships and a National Championship in 2010.

A 2014 UMD graduate (B.S. degree in criminology), Christianson is currently working for the TSA at the Minneapolis airport.

Grinnell Coaching Clinic

Coach Allen drove over 725 miles round trip this weekend to attend an exclusive coaching clinic at the famous Grinnell College in Iowa.

Throughout the weekend, Allen learned about "The System" which was made famous at Grinnell College over the last 20 years.

There were 25 coaches in attendance at the clinic from 10 different states ranging from California, Vermont, Florida, Connecticut, Michigan, and of course Minnesota.

An extra bonus of the weekend was Coach Allen stayed with star player Jack Taylor throughout the time; having first hand experience at his disposal for questions to be answered.  It is tentatively planned to have Taylor come up and give a one day clinic for Pine City basketball players over Christmas break.

New Storage!!!

A HUGE thank you goes out to Kim Jusczak and the Pine City Basketball Booster for the purchase and delivery of new storage units for Boys Basketball.  Almost all of the basketball equipment, jerseys, and inventory is stored in Coach Allen's classroom due to lack of storage space at the High School.  These two new storage units will help immensely in keeping clutter down in the classroom while bringing a classy look.
