2/25/16: @Mora (Playoffs)

#5 Pine City fell at #4 Mora on Thursday night in the first round of playoffs 69-64 after loosing by almost 20 points one week earlier at home.

The Dragons came out hot and had a 1 point lead heading into the half.  In the second half, a quick run by Mora gave them the advantage early and Pine City was unable to fully close that gap throughout the second half.

PC got big nights from Kole Jusczak (14 points, 11 rebounds), who registarted a double-double on the night and sophomore Clay Logan (12 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists) who had his first career triple-double.  These two were the leading rebounders on the night followed by Jake Lunceford (7 points, 8 rebounds).

Jake Rademacher (15 points, 3 rebounds) lead the team in points with 5 made 3's in the game.

A huge thank you to all the friends, fans, and family members for their support both on Thursday and throughout the year.  A special shoutout to our seniors this year: Kole Jusczak, Sully Schmidt, Andy Clementson, Noah Adams, Sasha Whim, Erin Pavelka, and Morganne Johnson.

Playoffs 2016

The Pine City Dragons have been award the #5 seed in the 6AA playoffs after loosing the tie-breaker to Mora.

Pine City will travel to #4 Mora on Thursday for the first round of the playoffs.  Tip-off is at 7PM.

Kole Jusczak Becomes #2 on Program's All-Time Scoring List

In Saturday's contest, senior Kole Jusczak passed former Dragon-great Andrew Lutz for 2nd on the Program's All-Time Scoring list with 1,326 points.  Jusczak had 33 points in the contest.

"Kole gave everything he had in that contest and he put us in a great position to win with his effort" said head coach Kyle Allen.

Jusczak has played 4 years of varsity under Allen who went on to say "Kole has really turned it on lately and is going to come out with a bang this week.  He is a heck of a player and has worked hard for this."

Jusczak is averaging a team high 18.1 points a game this year.

2/20/16: Milaca

In another matchup against a very physical game, Pine City fell to Milaca 68-63 at home on Saturday.

Unlike the game against Mora on Thursday, PC showed some grit in their refusal to give into the physical style of play that Milaca brought to Pine City.

There were several times throughout the contest that The Dragons were within striking distance and were unable to pull ahead on those situations.

Pine City was lead on the boards by Kole Jusczak (33 points, 10 rebounds), Jake Lunceford (5 rebounds, 5 points), and Nathan Kleppe (4 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists).  Hot-shooting from Clay Logan (18 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds) sparked PC at crucial times.

In the contest, senior Kole Jusczak passed Andrew Lutz for second on the all-time scoring list.  Jusczak now has 1,326 career points.

#5 Pine City will travel to #4 Mora on Thursday for the first round of playoffs.  Pine City was the #4 seed but fell behind Mora in the tie-breaker.

6th Grade Hoops @Mora

The 6th grade boys placed 3rd at the Mora tourney on Sunday, February 21.  The 8 team tourney was full of local teams from Foley, McGregor, Hinckley, Royalton, Milaca, Braham, and a combined Mora/Ogilvie team.  Pine City easily won the first game against Milaca 37-16.  Braham had defeated Foley in the first round so we had the opportunity to play them again after losing to them by 2 at their home tournament.  Unfortunately we came up short and lost 21-26.  That loss put us in the game for 3rd place.  We handily won against a small Mora/Ogilvie team 35-16.

2/19/16: Mora

Pine City fell to a physical Mora team 78-59 on Thursday night.

The Dragons struggled to get good traction throughout the game, as they struggled in most phases of the game.

Kole Jusczak (14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 assists), Jake Rademacher (6 rebounds), and Nick Hansmann (6 points, 5 rebounds) lead PC in rebounding on the night.

Milaca comes to town on Saturday for the final regular season game of the year.

2/16/16: @Onamia

Pine City went into Onamia and came away with a 79-46 win on Tuesday night after a week off from games.

The Dragons were able to jump out to a 52-22 halftime lead with hot-shooting from the outside and offensive rebounds helping PC in their cause.

Nathan Kleppe (13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) and Clay Logan (24 points, 8 rebounds) were the leading rebounders for The Dragons in the process.  Both did a great job of executing the game plan and helping to lead both on the offensive and defensive end.

Next up for Pine City will be two tough section games.  Thursday, PC will host Mora and on Saturday, Milaca will come to town for a 3 pm varsity game.
