Pine City was represented at the annual Pierz 3 on 3 tournament by two 6th grade teams, one 7th grade team, and 1 eighth grade team.
One of the 6th grade teams consisted of Tanner Wicktor, Koleman Lind, Brody Perlick, and Konnor Jusczak. They went 3-1 in Pool Play and were seeded 4th out of 11 for the brackets. They lost to Crosby in the quarter finals (Pine had beaten them earlier in the day). Crosby went on to win the tournament.
The other 6th grade team consisted of Seth Logan, Benny Cruz, Nate Webster, and Duke Waxberg. They went 2-2 in pool play and were seeded 6th. They had a nice run in the brackets winning 2 to get to the semis where the lost to the runner ups. They then defeated a good Brainerd team to take 3rd place.
The 7th grade team consisted of Nick Hansmann, Josh Hinrichs, and Quentin Miklya. They won their pool defeating Cambridge, Holdingford, Pierz, and New York Mills. They were seeded 2nd in the bracket. The lost to Milaca in the semis and lost to Melrose to take 4th place.
The 8th grade team consistent of Jake Rademacher, Clay Logan, Jake Lunceford, and Nathan Kleppe. They went undefeated on the day and took first in the tournament.
