The Pine City Boys Basketball Program found themselves in new ground this offseason, but came out on the other side stronger then how they entered.
Positive changes were made to the Unified Athletic Program, giving way to more lifting and speed work along with the emphasis on core strength, agility, and foot speed. A total of 35 boys basketball players took part of our summer workouts totaling 1418 hours; up from the 1195.5 hours during last summer. The 1418 hours sets a new all time record since Coach Allen has been at the helm of the program beating the previous record of 1357 set in the 2014 offseason. The top 5 in hours were: sophomore Jake Adams (78), junior Jake Rademacher (77), junior Riley Palmer (74.5), freshman Brody Perlick (72), and freshman Seth Logan (66). There was a total possibly hours of 96 over 24 days.
During the annual Pine City Boys Basketball Summer League, Pine City had a C-Squad (coached by Coach Hansmann), JV (coached by Coach Rademacher), and Varsity (coached by Coach Allen). Each team had a winning record throughout the summer, playing very well and improving on a nightly basis. Most players stuck around and sat with higher level teams, gaining valuable knowledge and experience from their older teammates. In the same breath, a huge thank you goes out to our managers and volunteers who gave their time working summer league helping everything to run smoothly.
We had several players take part in AAU, teams take part in tournaments, as well as 3 on 3 competitions. Our players have been very active. A group also took part in the MIT Varsity tournament held in St. Cloud at the end of the summer.
