Boys basketball wins opener on the road
Coming into the season, Pine City is excited with the experience they have returning to the team. The Dragons came into the season being able to click and showed energy and excitement with their 89 – 75 win over Zimmerman on the road Friday, Nov. 30.
The Dragons were able to come out and execute the game plan well; however, they did struggle, letting one end of the court affect the other end of the court, letting Zimmerman cut the Dragons’ lead to one point before focusing and pulling away.
“There are always things to fix, but for the most part, I was really pleased with what we put on the floor,” said coach Kyle Allen.
Seth Logan came back with four fouls in the second half and played hard in all phases of the game. He led the Dragons with 26 points. Nick Hansmann really shot the ball well, something to expect him to do night in and night out, scoring 25 points. Jake Adams came alive during the second half and had a total of 15 points for the night.
Pine City has eleven varsity players and all eleven were able to get meaningful varsity minutes against a 3AAA team (Zimmerman) on the road. That will be huge for the Dragons as the season moves forward and hopefully a trend they will be able to continue. Pine City will have the week to go back and focus before their conference opener at East Central on Friday, Dec. 7.
