12/10/19: Braham

Pine City Pioneer

Boys basketball team takes 2 wins

Pine City 62, Braham 44
On Tuesday, Dec. 10, Pine City boys basketball hosted the Braham Bombers for some exciting basketball action. The Dragons came out with great energy, great focus, great determination and dominated the first half.
The boys did not let anything get in their way in the first half and we really executed well,” said coach Kyle Allen. “We ran in different lineups, tried some new things we have been working on, and kept to our principles.”
The second half could not have been more of the opposite. Give credit to Braham, they made some great adjustments at halftime and refused to give in. Pine City failed to execute their game plan as players started doing their own thing.
“We are not very good when this happens... we are much better collectively when we execute our game plan and are all on the same page,” said coach Allen.
Regardless, the Dragons were able to start their season off with a win over a conference rival at home. Seth Logan dominated the boards, to start the season off with 14 rebounds. Logan also led Pine City in scoring with 20 points. Koleman Lind also ended the evening in double figures, with 12 points. Christian Fromm, who was dealing with some sickness, really gave the Dragons all he could in the first half. Jason Thieman and Cole Waxberg provided a nice spark in the first half in their new varsity roles. Pine City also had a few guys get their first varsity points: Colton Blaisdell, Dylan Petersen, Jason Thieman.
“There was a moment in the second half where we had Caleb Fromm, Kameron Jusczak, Dylan Petersen, Luke Wilson and Colton Blaisdell on the floor together. I thought Caleb and Kameron did a nice job of trying to lead that group,” said coach Allen.
Pine City had a good day of practice on Wednesday in preparation for East Central. They looked at the little things, focused on the important things to their program, and took steps forward.
“It is important for this team to see and realize how good we can be when we are all on the same page,” said coach Allen.
