Pine City 69, Onamia 39
The Dragons took care of business against an inferior opponent here. Pine City had beaten Onamia by 44 four in the previous meeting and this contest was never in doubt. The Dragons were led in scoring by Clay Logan with 16 points on 7-13 shooting. Nick Hansmann and Jake Rademacher had 11 apiece, with Rademacher finishing with 13 rebounds and yet another double-double.
“Came out a little sluggish to be honest with you,” said Head Coach Kyle Allen. “Energy was great, intensity was good, but the focus was a little off. I was really proud about how the boys refocused in the second half. Jake Rademacher was really the catalyst for that. He had a phenomenal game. Clay Logan and Jake Lunceford also had really nice games, Lunceford had nine rebounds in the game. Clay on the offensive end, scoring really well. Konnor Jusczak also had back-to-back threes in the first half when we needed them.”
The players seemed to see things similarly.
“We wanted to come out fast and intense,” said Logan. “We started out a little slow, but we picked it up in the second half and I was really happy about that.”
“Picking up the intensity in the second half,” said Lunceford, “I got most of my boards in the second half. Just doing my job, clearing out the lane, and picking up some boards.”
The game was played in Onamia on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Two nights later, Pine City would face a much tougher opponent and come up short.
