1/14/20: Isle

Boys leave it all on the court

The next day, Jan. 14, the Dragons and Isle teamed up with Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer: Go 4 The Goal. The team will be wearing gold shoelaces until they play Isle again on Feb. 14 to help raise awareness surrounding childhood cancer.  To make a donation, go to Go4theGoal.org and select “Donate Now.”
“We are very appreciative of Isle for agreeing to team up with us for this awesome cause.
Playing their third game in three playable days, it began to show some for a few rotations. The Dragons played 11 players in the first half in meaningful minutes; the goal is to have and develop great depth and their legs were a little tired with the amount of games that they have been playing.
“I thought we had a stretch of about nine minutes (three rotations) in the first half where we really lost our focus and were focusing on the wrong end of the court,” said the coach. “When we allow whatever happens on the offensive end to affect what we do on the defensive end, that is a scary concept.” The team relies on the defensive end efforts to be the motor that pushes them to success.  “However, I loved that we had a group decide to stop the negative momentum and we were able to end the half on a high note.”
Seth Logan again paced the Dragons on the boards with nine followed by Koleman Lind with seven, Konnor Jusczak with six and Dylan Petersen with five. As a defense, they were able to take five charges by five different people and pull in over 50 total rebounds. Both are great stats that are going to lead to a lot of success for them as a team if they can continue to execute those principles. As a team, they had 20 assists to only 10 turnovers; having that 2:1 ratio is huge and very impressive as a team. A 2:1 ratio would be impressive for an individual, let alone a whole team.
“The more assists we can rack up and the more turnovers we can limit, the more great looks we will get on the offensive end,” said Allen.
