Boys basketball shoots past the competition
Pine City 83, Rush City 58
On Thursday, Jan. 9, Pine City traveled to Rush City and brought home their second win of the week 83-58.
“What a great atmosphere! My watch kept telling me I was in too loud of an environment and it was awesome! Both halves were really fun, but maybe for different reasons,” said coach Allen. “We really grinded in the first half. Both teams took some great blows at the other and every time, the other team would have a response. In the second half, we were able to go on a nice run at the start.”
Pine City kept the pressure on and were able to get some good looks against the Rush City zone. Seth Logan paced the Dragons with 37 points as his teammates did a great job of getting him the ball in spots where he would be successful. The Dragons again shot well from the free throw line, shooting 75% for the game.
“Overall, I really liked our defensive intensity and focus. We did a much better job on the boards as well and I like how physical we were,” said coach Allen. “Konnor Jusczak is really running the offense effectively and ended with a game high seven assists. He is really doing a lot of the little things that this group needs. His defense is spectacular, he is working hard on position for rebounding, leading us on and off the floor, and when he is controlling the offense correctly, we are very successful.”
