5th Grade Boys Hoops team coached by Katy Overtoom and Thom Peterson took 1st place at their tournament in North Branch. It was a sold team effort with over half the players scoring in every game.

Game 1 vs North Branch White 26-18
PC took an early lead and closed the first half 16-2. They came out cold in the 3rd quarter and were outscored 16-4. PC got in a little foul trouble with 9 fouls in the 2nd half but NB was unable to take full advantage. PC shut down NB’s offense in the 4th quarter and added 6 more points to solidify the win.
Game 2 vs Siren 37-8
PC came out strong and ran a fast-break offense to outscore the Siren Dragons 21-3 in the first half. PC kept the momentum going and utilized the entire bench to shut out the opposition in the 3rd quarter. PC let up the pressure in the 4th quarter but still came away with a solid win.
Game 3 vs River Falls White 33-28
PC finally met their match in speed and played a see-saw first half that ended up tied at 12. Jusczak came alive in the 2nd half and scored 15 points. He nailed a 3 pointer in the 4th quarter that helped carry the team to a nice victory.
Lead scorers for the tournament were Jusczak with 29, Petersen with 20, Willert with 16, and Waxberg with 15. This was the first tournament for the 5th graders this season. Their next tournament is Saturday, January 24th in Siren, WI and their pool is Clear Lake, Hayward, and Rush City.
