Haitian Temptation

Two of the Pine City Boys Basketball coaching staff members, Coach Allen and Coach Hussong, got to pay a visit to a friend of the program last weekend: Al "Haitian Temptation" Sands.  Sands had a title boxing match last weekend in Hinckley, MN.  Previously, Al had talked to the team before a playoff game during the 2014-15 basketball season.

Summer 2015 Recap

The Pine City Boys Basketball Program put in another solid offseason of work, dedication, and improvement towards bettering themselves and their teammates in preparation for the upcoming season(s).

For the first time ever, Pine City had double teams in each division of their Summer League.  This is equivalent to 2 C-Squad, JV, and Varsity teams with each team playing 2 games in a night.   During the summer, all three teams had success and grew and individuals and as teams.  The overall record for C-Squad, coached by Coach Hussong, was 17-6; JV, coached by Coach Rademacher, was 18-5, and Varsity, coached by Coach Allen, was 19-4.

On top of Summer League, different groups took part in tournaments during the offseason.  Our incoming 8th graders played in two different tournaments during the summer while a group of incoming 9th and 10th graders played in two spring/summer tournaments as well.  The Varsity played in one tournament early in the summer and went to UMD team camp.

This was the second full summer of the Unified Athletic Program being offered in the offseason to athletes and the Boys Basketball Program took advantage again.  The gains by some of our athletes will be very evident as their fall sports begin and will hopefully carry over into basketball if they keep their work habits up as the school year starts off.  This was the first year in Coach Allen's Pine City career that the hours took a dip from the previous year, falling from 1,357 hours in summer 2014 to 1,195.5 hours in summer 2015.  As always, athletes are invited to sign in when they arrive at open gym and sign out when they leave.  As always, open gym is an optional opportunity for our athletes to improve.

In the coming weeks, letters will be sent out to any/all boys basketball players that either owe money for not working enough hours during summer league or have not turned in all of their equipment.  Please be on the lookout for these letters and emails.

Parade

A huge shout-out and thanks to all who helped with the Pine City Boys/Girls Basketball Booster float in the parade.  It was a huge success and great turnout!
