Dragon boys score against Onamia, Foley

The Dragon boys basketball team made a new school record as the squad tallied up two victories on the week.
Pine City 85, Onamia 39
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, Pine City boys basketball hosted Onamia and came away with a 85-39 victory. Pine City was really working on getting themselves ready for the playoffs; this included their rotation and preparation. Onamia had the best player on the floor in Josh Parrow and the Dragons knew they would have to give special attention to him.
“He is a very talented basketball player who has an impressive skill set,” said coach Kyle Allen. “Luckily for us, we have some guys who take great pride in being defensive stoppers.”
Caleb Fromm and Tanner Wicktor got the green light to guard Parrow and they did a great job of chasing him around the court all night. In the first half, it was an even game most of the time. The Dragons were able to go on a nice run to end the first half.
“I loved how our guys stuck with the game plan and allowed it to unfold on its own,” Allen said.
Konnor Jusczak, Duke Waxberg and Christian Fromm came out and played phenomenal for Pine City. Jusczak ended the game with seven total rebounds, five assists, and 10 points, Waxberg had two total rebounds, six assists, and seven points, while Fromm had eight total rebounds, three assists, and two points.
“Both of them ended with an ‘A’ grade in our value point system,” said Allen. “I thought both of them played well within our system and did a lot to help us succeed.”
Seth Logan led Pine City in total rebounds with nine  Kameron Jusczak was next to unstoppable on the offensive end, ending the game with a very impressive 20 points. The Dragons kept the ball moving, ending the game with 25 team assist.
“Onamia plays very hard, their kids are always hard workers,” said coach Allen. “It showed on Tuesday night. They do not go away easily and kept fighting until the end. “
