1/13/20: Zimmerman

Boys leave it all on the court

Pine City 74, Zimmerman 55
On Monday, Jan. 13 the boys basketball team came out and executed the game plan as close to flawless as possible against a talented Zimmerman team.
“I am extremely proud of their focus and energy.  In fact, the biggest mental blunder in the game was a substitution error on my part, which my assistants were trying to correct for me,” said coach Kyle Allen.
Zimmerman has a lot of size, athleticism and upperclassmen. They are what a 3A school looks like in athletic programs. Zimmerman has some impressive basketball players that have some amazing statistics and recognitions over the years.
“We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to play bigger schools who have the impressive talents that schools like Zimmerman have,” said coach Allen.
In terms of the game, it felt a little like a playoff game in terms of the two teams competing. The Dragons scouted Zimmerman three times before the game, knowing that it was an important game on the schedule and that it would be a tough matchup.
“I thought our energy, effort, and execution were as close to flawless as we have had,” Allen said. “I am really proud of how our boys came out and played. They showed what they are capable of; and in the end, we didn’t shoot the greatest percentage at any level, but we allowed our defense and rebounding to carry us to a victory.”
Seth Logan led the Dragons on the boards with seven followed by Konnor and Kameron Jusczak with five each. Konnor also took three charges while Koleman Lind, Dylan Petersen and Christian Fromm each took one.  Fromm set the tone on the physical front for the Dragons.
